When you cast this spell, you summon a magical shield made of shadow around your body. While under the effect of this spell you get DR X/-, with X being your caster level (max. 10). The shadow shield can absorb up to 5 points of damage per casterlevel (max. 50 points). If the shield would have to absorb more damage than this because of a hit you take, it explodes in a 10 ft.-radius burst, dealing 3d6 + caster level points of damage to every creature within except you.
